Can You Tell Me What You Will Achieve in the Next 90 Days?

Imagine setting out on a roadtrip with no map or GPS, no clothes packed, no hotel reservations, and only a general idea of where you want to end up. 

If you’re like me, that sounds stressful and overwhelming. But that is how a lot of people approach goal-setting. They make a new year’s resolution, tell a few close friends or post it on social media and then expect to make it happen. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you how well that works for most people.

I am a planner. And by that I mean yes, I enjoy planning. But in addition to the enjoyment of planning, it is also what helps to remove the overwhelm of achieving anything. Seriously, how do you know that you’re on your way to achieving your goals without a plan?

Do you have long and short term goals?

How far into the future have you prepared for, or at least thought about? Are you only thinking of the very near term? What do you want to achieve by the end of this year? What about by the end of next year? What do you want to achieve in 10 years? Do your 1-year, 2-year, and 5-year goals align with your 10-year goal?

Are your goals S.M.A.R.T?

Specific: don’t be wishy-washy, be specific with what you want to achieve. Think “I want to be rich” vs “I want to make $1 Million in profit”

Measurable: how will you measure your achievement to know whether you have achieved your goal. See the example above, $1 Million can be counted. There is no question of whether you have truly achieved your goal.

Achievable & Realistic: I always think of these 2 together. You need to be realistic when thinking of your goals. Don’t say “I want to make $1 Million by the end of the week” if you have no way to make $1 Million by the end of the week. You need to have access to the resources to make sure it can be achieved.

Time-bound: give yourself a deadline. Don’t leave it open-ended. Give yourself a realistic timeline to do the work and see the results. Think “I want my business to make $1 Million in profit by Dec 31, 2030.”

Have you created an action plan to achieve your goals?

Did you just say “I’m going to …..” and then move on without determining how you were going to actually make it happen? What will it take to make the goal happen? What tools  do you need to make it happen? What other resources do you need? Who can help you? Who would actually be willing to help you? And what skills and resources do you already have access to and what can be outsourced?

What actions will you take in the next 7 days to get you closer to achieving your 90-day goal?

What is your 90-day goal? What is your 30-day goal? What will you work on this week that will get you closer to achieving your 30-day goal? What action will you take TODAY to get you closer to achieving your 7-day goal? And does that 7-day goal align with your 30-day goal? 


This may seem like a lot, and that’s not my intention BUT it is important to think about your answers to these questions.

The time will pass anyway. You can spend it working towards your goals OR you can spend it spinning the same wheels that you’re spinning today wondering why you’re not super excited about life.
